Headset Buying Guide
Not sure which headset is right for you? Here's what to consider.
ANR vs Passive
Active Noise Reduction (ANR) uses electronics to cancel engine noise, providing superior comfort on long flights. Passive headsets use physical padding and are more affordable. ANR is worth it if you fly frequently or in loud cockpits.
Bluetooth & Features
Modern headsets offer Bluetooth for music and phone calls, auto-shutoff, priority audio mixing, and app connectivity. Consider if you use ForeFlight or other EFBs that benefit from audio alerts.
Connector Types
Dual GA plugs (PJ-055 & PJ-068) fit most general aviation aircraft. LEMO/panel power is cleaner but requires aircraft installation. Helicopter (U-174) uses a single connector. Know your aircraft before buying.
